Patience is the Companion of Wisdom (La Paciencia es la Comparpanera de la Sabiduria), mixed media, 26" x 16". Herman's subject, an elderly man who weaves bapaskets, sits on a chair woven from palm leaves. With meticulous application of tempera Herman created an illusion of woven wool in both the serape and the poncho beneath.
