Approach of a Rider depicts a Sioux war party gathered on the open plains as a returning scout approaches from the distance. Inspired by the realities of life in the nineteenth-century West, Noel Daggett portrays a moment of anticipation and decision as the group awaits news of a nearby cattle drive. Set against an expansive sky and rugged landscape, the composition captures both the resilience of the people and the importance of community, leadership, and survival on the frontier.
Daggett was known for creating vibrant paintings that balanced technical skill with emotional depth. His travels throughout the American Southwest and beyond influenced his distinctive style, allowing him to portray Western subjects with warmth, energy, and a strong sense of place. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in numerous public and private collections.

Noel Daggett
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, artist Noel Daggett was celebrated for his vibrant use of color and deeply humanistic vision. Inspired by extensive travels around the world, his work reflected a belief in the underlying unity of life. A founder of The Daggett Museum for Living Artists in New Mexico and a recipient of the Emily Lowe Award, Daggett earned international recognition for paintings praised for their lyrical energy, rich color, and emotional depth.
